Norfolk Community Foundation help ACE’s Catering Project to gain support from the Bunn Foundation and the Shelroy Charitable Trust.
ACE are delighted to announce that they have received grants from both the Bunn Foundation (£1,000) and the Shelroy Charitable Trust (£2,000) to support their project to upgrade the catering facilities and to provide a training café within the ACE training centre at Rackheath. These new facilities will enable students who are working towards catering and hospitality programmes, including BTEC and Gateway qualifications, to develop their skills and gain real work experience.
The café will provide snacks and meals for all the students at ACE, enabling the catering students to develop a broader range of skills than can be achieved from working in the kitchen alone. ACE have reinvested part of their surplus from 2014/15 into this project but to complete the kitchen and the café to the required standard further pieces of equipment were still required and these grants will enable ACE to purchase equipment to help the kitchen and café to be fully equipped to deliver nationally recognised qualifications.
The catering programme at ACE is a successful and growing area of provision with students progressing into employment or onto further training at the local further education colleges. ACE currently provide alternative education for a broad range of local schools with catering being a particularly popular choice. This is a growth sector for the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership area of Norfolk and Suffolk with a wide range of progression opportunities available to our students through full time courses, apprenticeships and employment.
