ACE student, Harvey, gets ‘Distinction Plus’ in Level 2 qualification
Another batch of leavers from our Study Programme departed earlier this month after successfully completing a year of study in diverse vocational areas. Among them, Harvey stands out. He’s the only student in the Rackheath cohort on the Motor Vehicle Level 2 course to achieve a Distinction* (Distinction Plus) in his Certificate in Vehicle Mechanics. This grade signifies a very strong performance across the entire qualification.
Harvey joined us in 2022 after finishing Year 11 at high school. He readily admits his preference for practical, hands-on learning, not considering himself particularly academic. in his first year at ACE he completed the Level 1 Certificate in Vehicle Mechanics, which he also passed with a Distinction. He enjoyed the Level 1 course so much that he was eager to expand his knowledge by pursuing a Level 2 qualification. He possesses a flair for the artistic and creative problem-solving, which have proved beneficial in the Motor Vehicle Workshop,
where attention to detail and understanding of vehicle repair methodologies are crucial. He even had a go at some panel beating, a noisy but satisfying activity – watching a plain sheet of metal gradually become a structured bonnet for an off-road practice vehicle.
Harvey’s tutor, John Sculfor, commented, “Harvey was an incredibly polite and enthusiastic student to teach. He was consistently the first to arrive and the last to leave. He always expressed his desire to enter the car restoration side of the industry, so I was thrilled to hear he secured an apprenticeship that aligns perfectly with his goals.” Chris Kiddell, the Learning Support Assistant in the Motor Vehicle Workshop, added, “Harvey has been an absolute pleasure to have on the course. He’s always eager to get involved and a joy to interact with. We’re all incredibly proud of him and thrilled about his apprenticeship placement. We look forward to him popping in and catching us up in the future.”
Harvey exemplifies the rewards of hard work and consistent attendance. He has secured an apprenticeship with a prestigious local garage, where he’ll learn to service and perform body repairs on high-end vehicles. Everyone at ACE wishes him the very best for the future. We have no doubt he will achieve great things. Any company Harvey works for will be fortunate to have such a diligent, polite, and smart young man – a true asset and a pleasure to have on the team.
Harvey shared some of the photos with us that he feels encapsulate his time in the mechanics workshop at ACE, including the lighter side of the course!
